Reduce Your Stress

Beauty Product Reviews

Everybody is going through some level of stress – it is an intrinsic part of life. Some have light and moderate stress levels, which are very manageable and easy to eliminate. There are some however who go through regular and consistent levels of high stress. It can stem from home or the office – or both. No matter what the reason and origin, it is important that a person learn how to prevent or reduce stress in life.

Stress can definitely bring a lot of damage to a person’s life. It can take its toll on one’s personal appearance. You can often identify a stressed person because of his haggard looks and the dark circles under the eyes. Severe cases can result to emotional and psychological disturbances, which can lead to the need for therapy. It is important that you do not reach this level of stress. It should be managed as early as possible so you can eliminate it immediately.

Before you can work on eliminating stress from your life, you should be able identify the source of your stress first. You may think that this is a very easy task but actually, it may not be as simple as it sounds. For instance, if you are constantly worried about your work deadlines, you may easily point to those deadlines as the reason behind your stress. But if you are a person who has a bad habit of procrastination, then this might be the source of your work stress rather than the deadlines themselves. In order to identify the source of your stress effectively, you should be able to examine your attitude and habits. You may be the type who regards stress as something temporary, or you may consider stress as an integral part of your life and personality, something that you cannot do away with. Or you may be the type who blames events and other people for your stress. You have to take these in consideration when identifying the origin of your stress.

After you have identified the source of your stress, it is now time to examine the way you cope with stress at present. There are healthy and unhealthy ways of coping with stress. The most common methods of dealing with stress in a healthy way is indulging in one’s hobby or spending more time with family and friends. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who tend to deal with the stress in the unhealthiest ways. People who smoke or drink too much are usually under considerable or heavy stress. Same with people who eat or sleep too much, or the opposite of that. Other unhealthy ways of dealing with stress include withdrawing from family, friends and social activities, procrastinating and physical violence, whether to oneself or to others.

It is very important to learn how to manage stress the right way. It should contribute to the betterment of your physical, mental and emotional health. You must remember that there is no standard set of ways to manage stress. Each person will have a different solution in coping with problems. It will depend on the personality, habits and severity of the stress levels.

No matter what level of stress you are in, it is always advisable to make time for fun and relaxation. For those in moderate stress levels, rest and relaxation is all they need to eliminate their problems. For those who are on heavier stress levels, this is only one of several stress management strategies that they must go through. One relaxation technique that you should definitely try is meditation. The benefits of yoga and regular meditation are enormous. It allows you to clear your mind and melt away the stress from your body in the process. Beginners will have no problem learning the right way to meditate and to use it to manage stress. Here are some tips for effective meditation:

• Set a regular time for it. Allot a specific time and incorporate it into your daily routine. Remember that you must be willing to do this wholeheartedly. Meditation will not work if you feel that it is a chore rather as an enjoyable activity.

• Start with easy yoga steps and light routines at first. There is no need to rush to the advanced level. You should be made aware of your body and divert attention away from your mind. Doing yoga will loosen your tendons and muscles and encourages the movement of energy in your body.

• Look for the right place where you can do your meditation in peace. Nothing ruins meditation time better than a noisy spot. Choose a place which you can use everyday to meditate. The repetition will condition the subconscious and help you with your meditation. Going to the same place everytime will allow energy to develop in that spot, which will make it easier for you to meditate in that spot. If you have companions in the house, make them aware of your meditation time and place. Make them understand that you cannot be disturbed during this time.

• Make use of candles, incense or fragrant oils. Never underestimate the power of scent and soft lighting when it comes to meditating. There are many types of fragrances that you can use to enhance your mood. Lavender is commonly used for a very relaxing mood. While you are at it, play some soothing background music. There are many CDs of music made especially for relaxation, and these are commonly used in spas. Some spas even release their own compilation of relaxation and mood music.

• Invest in good quality cushion for seats. This will help your body to get more relaxed while meditating. You can use standard cushion or you can visit specialty shops which sell cushions designed for yoga and meditation.

• Try meditating with a partner of group. Sometimes meditating alone can get quite boring, so try doing it in the presence of other people. You can get a regular meditation partner or join a meditation group.
